Aer Lingus-IAD

AER LINGUS-IAD CREW MEMBER COLLEAGUES,

I write on behalf of IMPACT Trade Union with 65,000 members representing amongst others Aer Lingus Cabin Crew (Dublin, Shannon, Cork, Belfast and Gatwick) and all their Pilots.

I want to make it clear that all your colleagues in our membership are horrified and aghast at the attitude of Aer Lingus toward you seeking to be organised and members of a labor union. Some of the correspondence issued from Aer Lingus management has come to our attention and we are quite simply shocked at its tone and tenor.

You may take it that we fully support you in your campaign and urge you to waste not one vote in sending the message to the company that what’s going on is not to be tolerated. Our members wear the same uniform as you, perform the same work, and we believe all crew should have decent pay and conditions for the same work.

Sincerely and on behalf of our 1,100 Cabin Crew members,

Matt Staunton, National Secretary
Services and Enterprises Division

Messages of Support For Aer Lingus-IAD

Dear Aer Lingus IAD Flight Attendants, Do not let threats and intimidation tactics by weak managers deter you from voting for AFA representation. It is the only way you will ever have the collective strength to legally stand up to those pathetic attempts to control you and your future. By voting to organize with the nation’s most powerful Union representing Flight Attendants, the AFA-CWA, you will immediately prove that you and your fellow Flight Attendants are strong and determined to collectively protect your individual rights. After 35 years of flying for United and Continental Airlines, I respectfully urge you to vote FOR and Join the AFA and all of us in the global airline industry who support our families by supporting our Unions. – In solidarity, John Prater, Captain B777, United Airlines, Member – Air Line Pilots Association, Int’l

Dear US-based Aer Lingus Flight Attendants, I recently learned of your efforts to become members of AFA-CWA and to seek bargaining rights so that you have a say in your wages, benefits and working conditions. I have also learned that your employer has been bombarding you with messages to scare and discourage you from participating in the union. No one should have to endure that kind of harassment just because he/she wants to join a union! You are incredibly brave and the unity among your group will win out over fear tactics and manipulation. Stay strong and remember that there are many people (even people you don’t know) who support you and stand with you. In solidarity – Teresa Casertano, Global Campaigns, AFL-CIO Organizing Department
Well done! We need employees to be in a Union to avoid unfair competition, to get better working conditions, to Secure human rights and to get rid of managers who do not understand normal and fair claims in a job where you need to be alert at all times! Full support keep up the spirit, it is people like you, who make a positive difference. – Karin Ligaard airhost in SAS and in the unionboard of CAU
This transcends human decency. These flight attendants have the inalienable right to unionize; and no underhanded organizational restructuring should be allowed to interfere with this right. Aer Lingus flight attendants are recognized for their cheerful efficiency and they are worth more to the enterprise than all the wheeler-dealers that head the organization. All the Irish saints, whose names adorn the aircraft, are weeping today. To the workers: organize, continue to fight, and take heart!  This sleaziness will not long survive in the light of day. – Dr. Phil Breen
Stand strong! Don’t let management’s strong arm tactics dissuade you from your right to organize and have a job that’s free from intimidation.  You deserve to have protections, good work rules and good pay. Fight back, and know that the Flight Attendant community stands with and behind you. – Taylor St. Theos, United Airlines Flight Attendant
As a member of a local union in Miami Florida and speaking for my self, I stand with you in your quest for representation as a whole. Stand strong and keep the pressure on to those who oppose your effort’s. The opposition knows they are misguided and have not a foot to stand on. They are united and so is your effort. – Mr. Fred Coplin, LU 725, Miami FL,USA
