Why AFA

Flight Attendants for Flight Attendants

AMR-Group

No one knows your job and your issues like other Flight Attendants. That’s why the Association of Flight Attendants believes we need to unite in one union focused exclusively on Flight Attendants to take full advantage of the leverage we have as a union of Flight Attendants, by Flight Attendants and for Flight Attendants.

Flight Attendants hold every elected position – from your local domicile and the Master Executive Council, to the International union. AFA’s three top officers are current Flight Attendants: International President Sara Nelson is a United Airlines Flight Attendant, International Vice President Debora Sutor is an Envoy Air Flight Attendant and International Secretary-Treasurer Kevin Creighan is a United Airlines Flight Attendant.

Our union is organized to represent Flight Attendants only. We also have the support of the Communications Workers of America and the AFL-CIO. These strong ties also extend to our affiliation with organizations like the TTD (Transportation Trades Department). The Transportation Trades Department, AFL-CIO, a coalition of 32 member unions, provides a bold voice for workers in every mode of transportation – both in the private and public sector – devoted to protecting middle-class jobs, expanding collective bargaining, and ensuring modern, safe, and secure transportation operations and infrastructure.

Our advocacy has gained the respect of legislators and regulators alike, and AFA is the voice of Flight Attendants on the Hill. We encourage every Flight Attendant to become involved, to raise your voice and be an activist. Run for office. Tell us what you think. Your voice will resonate from your domicile through your airline carrier and to the International union in Washington. In AFA, every Flight Attendant’s voice counts.

You want you to be a part of our community and the AFA family and to wear your union pin with pride knowing you will be a part of the largest Flight Attendant union in the world. AFA was the first professional organization to represent Flight Attendants, and it has grown with the passion and experience of its members, nearly 60,000 Flight Attendants at 19 airlines. We are Stronger Together; Better Together.
